In this second book, Lovelace again shows women how to overcome the obstacles society has put in our way!  Plow through and show everyone that women do not need a king in order to wear a crown.  Create a world wear women can be the queen, the king, and even the knight.

I have really started embracing poetry recently. It’s a way for me to read and understand my own feeling through others. ⁣

I really enjoyed this piece Shine Your Icy Crown. There were so many lines that truly resonated with me.⁣

“No, hurting herself is not something she does for attention. Some days, it’s the only thing that tethers her to the earth.” ⁣
- this couldn’t be more accurate⁣

“remember this: it is okay not to be okay.”

Amanda Lovelace returns with another book on her series “You Are Your Own Fairytale.” This is an empowering series of poetry with themes of fairytales and a feminist twist. These poems felt pretty similar in theme to the other poetry books by this author, but what stuck out to me in this particular book was the back-and-forth poems between a younger and older sister, with the older sister being the sort of wise voice to the younger and encouraging her to believe in herself. That sister relationship really made the poems meaningful to me.

Amanda Lovelace's poems never fail to leave me in awe, and she did it again with this book! I appreciate the occasional illustrations every now and then. The poems are awesome as always.

- no usa recursos poéticos. not one.

Conclusión: si tenés 11 años o menos, mucha intriga, y 45 minutos para gastar, go ahead. Si no, no.

The book has prose and poem scattered about empowerment, mental health and self care, and the turn of the century twist in fairytales, where there are no more damsels in distress and are more about how they are their own queens by their own rights.
What failed to impress me was that there was no novelty to it. Its all been said and written before. Even the phrases chosen and the punchlines.
It would work wonderfully for daily affirmations and reflections on self. But, it has nothing new to offer on the same.

The second installment in the you are your own fairytale series is just as good as the first. I loved the themes of women supporting women, sisterhood, and what true feminism is. Once again, this book just called me out in all the best ways. I will forever keep reading Amanda's poetry and will forever love it.
