Boy howdy the narrator for the audiobook was awful. Can we ban white people doing bad accents when there is literally no reason to do them?? christ.

The book itself was okay, but I felt like it lacked any deeper meaning beyond “i had this rare disorder and it sucked for everyone and now i’m better” which is unfortunate since she’s a reporter/writer who you would think would be a better writer.

This book made me want to scream and cry at the same time, it’s insane to think people have to go through this everyday, but as a black women from America I know all too well have medical professionals treat patients. Very inspiring book overall, and the author does such a good job of detailing her personal story and explaining the medical information around it.

An incredibly unique book due to its combination of informative teaching and very immersive moments of true emotion. The book begins with Susannah introducing herself which allows you to create an attachment for when she goes through her “month of madness” where you can actually feel her emotions. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nonfiction book that feels like fiction. Her writing technique is truly stunning and pushed me to finish this in 4 days (shamelessly)
