A little heartbreaking at times, but that just made rooting for Sander that much more fun. Really enjoyed this one.

I accidentally read book three before I read book two so even though I knew how this story would end, I really enjoyed it. I really enjoy the Eternal Guardians; they are all strong, alpha heroes that have such a soft spot for the women in their lives except they do have a hard time expressing that. Zander and Callia have a history but it’s one that almost no one knew about. Because of a terrible misconception they’ve stayed away from each other over the years but now they are being thrown together and neither can deny the attraction that still lingers. But can they overcome the feelings of betrayal that they both harbor? Great story, wonderful development in the overarching story arch. Can’t wait to continue with the series!

Zander has lived for a very long time, and fears that he will never die. He is a great guardian protecting a hidden world and half-breeds out in the human world. But he also feels that he has nothing to live for after his soul mate left. He is hurt deeply. And now demons are hunting in the human world and the half-breed colonies are under attack as the goddess Atalanta is trying to take over. And she wants the guardians dead, together with the rest. But then he meets his soul mate again.

I liked the mythology in this one. Atalanta has taken twisted humans that turns into demons out of Hades. She attacks half-breeds, one parent human, the other Argolean who lived in this closed off realm. For protection they have the guardians who all are descended from the Argonauts. There is magic there and they live for a long time. And of course the Greek gods are all true. Now that I like.

Zander who is descendant from Achilles has lived for over 800 years and he is tired of it. He is protective, strong, and he loves deeply someone who turned away. Here we learn why. She, Callia is a healer, also very protective and strong. And I wonder what happened, but just gotta read on. They obviously want each other.

There is also a sidestory with a kid, Maximus who is in Atalanta's grip.

There is some ass-kicking, they do want to kick those demon butts back to the underworld. And then there is the troubled love affair between two people who love each other and are so angry at each other at the same time.

I shall not forget the court intrigues since the king is having trouble from the council and wants the princess to marry an Argonaut, and there again I wonder who it will be. It looks to be an interesting book 3, I assume she will be the heroine, and as for the man, well read on.

Cool side characters too, like what's the deal with Orpheus? He seems interesting, but do I trust him? In the end, an interesting paranormal romance.

So there were definitely some more interesting parts in this book, in comparison to the last but yet again I didn't really feel a strong connection to the H/H of the story. I found myself wishing that the end would come sooner than later - and it was a bit disappointing that the conclusion basically happened in one page. On the fence as to if I will pick up the next one. Slightly intrigued by where the story is going...but the thought of having to slog thru another novel in this series is a bit off-putting.

Again some plot holes and rushed resolutions, but still a rather engaging read. I think it's the world-building and multiple character view points (not just leads) that appeals to me.

Zander is an Argonaught, a descendant of Achilles who has yet to discover his “heel” and who just might be immortal. He found his soul mate ten years ago but faced not love, but heartbreaking rejection when he did as well as the ultimate betrayal he can never forgive. So when the King demands one of the unbound Argonaughts marry Isadora he volunteers for the duty. He already knows he’ll never have his soul mate, he won’t allow the King to deny his brothers the chance of having theirs.

Callia is the Kings personal healer, she’s devoted her life to duty because the only man she’s ever loved didn’t love her back. He abandoned her when she needed him most and she has her cleansing period scars and an ache for a child she lost as proof. Now her cleansing period is almost over and she’ll soon marry the man she’s been betrothed to since birth, a man she despises, but who will become the future leader of the council. Through him she might make changes her world desperately needs ar at least prevent him from moving their world back to the middle ages as he desires. So when she has to face the man who’s hurt her more than any other in the world and examine him to be Isadora’s betrothed she’ll set aside her hurt and do her duty.

Max is a ten year old boy raised by Atalanta in a life where he must kill or be killed. He survive because of a mirror, given to him by one of the Fates, which allows him to see his one true hope, the image of his real mother. He doesn’t understand why she didn’t want him, but if she’d just come for him, just give him one chance, he’d be the best son anyone could ask for. Atalanta’s goal is to kill Max’s humanity and it’s the one thing he refuses to give up. He’s never had anything in his life, but she won’t steal from him his hope.
When the lives of these three people collide, untold secrets are revealed and unheard of dangers arrive. But can they survive the dangers around them and move past the hurts destroying them to become the family they always should have been?

This second Eternal Guardians novel is as stunning as the first. While it did present a couple questions like why is it that Theron can find his soul mate anywhere, but Zander can’t and how exactly Zander can take Callia’s scars, those confusions are few and far between. What I really love about this series is that it’s so much more than a romance. With this installment Naughton brings us so much further into the political climate of Argolea. We spend almost as much time with characters outside the love story as we do with the romantic leads. There exists in this world so many intrigues and secrets that you can’t help but being sucked into their lives. There weren’t as many interactions with the Greek gods in this story as there were in the first, but Naughton still continues to interestingly twist Greek Mythology to fit her world by bringing story of the Titans and the Horae into this latest installment. Through the mythological twists and political intrigues Naughton continues to build a larger potentially explosive story are that makes this romance series on of the few readers should read in order. More than the romance, it’s the series story arc that makes these books ones not to be missed. Max, who was briefly introduced in the first novel takes up a larger role in this book and probably has the most intriguing storyline of the novel. His life is the culmination of secrets and betrayals and it’s his circumstances that pull at your heart strings the most. The well written close third person story is fast paced and loaded with action. The world is vividly described and stunningly addicting. The love story is built more on past encounters shown through memories than current events and does include sex though that’s neither a focus nor an abundance of scenes in this book. The one major sex scene though is a little disturbing, not because of what happens between the characters, but because of when. Callia and Zander have just discovered their child wasn’t still born or aborted, but is living with Atalanta, their world’s worst enemy and while they’re on earth supposedly searching for him they stop to have wild monkey sex?! Because of the when it takes a little bit of respect from the characters, their number one concern at this point should have been finding Max and making things right, not scratching a ten year itch. So while the sex isn’t a major part of the story, the scene does actually detract from the plot and would have been more beneficial to the plot at a different location in the story. However beyond that, the plot is an intense page turner from beginning to end.

Like in the first novel the characters are extremely well developed. We see both Callia and Zander’s faults, but we are also given insight into the events that made them make the choices they did. Casey and Theron are still reoccurring characters in this book, but they’re more secondary background characters in this story and Naughton relies a lot on the first novel in the series for their characterization. The other secondary characters from the first book however she continues to build and shape giving each more flesh and making each a little less of a mystery. Naughton also introduces a few new characters in this novel like the council members Lucian, Simon and Lukas and she does a wonderful job building these secondary characters with both strengths and flaws as well as providing the motivations for their actions. Her characterization skills are just are strong as her plotting, coming together to create a stunning novel.

Overall this story isn’t one to be missed. This excellent installment in the Eternal Guardians series is one I’d highly recommend to readers who enjoy paranormal romance.

As the Argonaut descended from Achilles, Zander has lived for over 800 years. In all that time, he has exhibited only one weakness: Callia, the love of his life who also betrayed him in the most fundamental of ways. Callia, healer to the King of Argolea, has given up on the life she once dreamed of having with Zander. However, fate has more in store for these seemingly star-crossed lovers because old secrets are about to come to light that may either rekindle the love and passion they felt so long ago, or will destroy them once and for all.

Zander and Callia’s second chances romance has tremendous potential. Unfortunately, their emotional connection is completely undermined by the angst, distrust and inability to communicate that characterizes their relationship. They are constantly at odds with one another even after the lies that separated them are revealed, and it is difficult to appreciate them either as individuals or as a couple. Callia, in particular, is a problematic heroine as the choices she made both in the past and in the present are completely incomprehensible
Spoilerwhat woman chooses to be flogged for infidelity or decides to accept and even encourage her soul mate’s binding to another?

In contrast, the secondary characters are far more interesting. The curious animosity between Isadora and Demetrius, the intriguing mystery that surrounds Orpheus’s true nature, and the compelling secrets behind Nick’s scarred facade all indicate that there are some exciting things to come.

Moreover, the developments in the ongoing story arc are engrossing. The elements and symbolism of Greek mythology together with the various conflicts (i.e., Atalanta vs. the Argonauts, the Argolean monarchy vs. the council, and the Argoleans vs. Misos) establish a complex and captivating world that I am eager to learn more about.

In sum, Entwined is a satisfying read despite its shortcomings and I am looking forward to Isadora and Demetrius’s upcoming showdown.

I read the first one a loong time ago and I have read 100+ books since then. So some of the characters were a little confusing to me at first because I was trying to remember what happened. And I couldn't remember if I had missed something with Zander and Callia from the first book. I know there was tension.. but I kind wish there would have been more of a flashback maybe of 10 years ago when they fell in love. But again.. maybe there was more to it in the first book. Honestly can't remember. I just felt like I was missing something with the story.

I hate the communication misunderstanding. I hate that something so idiotic kept two people apart. It makes me want to hit people. And I also think that Zander was a complete ass calling her a murderer. And right after he told her her just wanted to fuck her. ohhhhh. I would have chopped off some very important parts of him.

I will read the next book.. Although I really can't stand Isadora. I am hoping maybe that might change after her book?.. probably not.

I'm giving up.
The first book didn't stay with me, but I still tried the second book. Sometimes series gets better after the first book.
No such luck for me.
I understand many readers loved this book and the series, but I just can't connect to it. So... giving up...
