Loved how fast the beginning was but it lost me a little in the beginning but I understand it was important to build up the plot for the next book and the final battle where the book sped up again for the last 100 pages. Once again I love malllllll

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, just because a book is part of a series, it still needs to stand as a story within itself. This book doesn’t do that. It has a small it of action at the beginning and a small bit of action at the end. The other 300 pages could be whittled down to less than 100 pages, with the so called ‘plot’ serving as nothing more than a bridge between the first book and the third. Hopefully the next book will be much better than this one, and I’m sad to say that this was a massive let down after the incredible first book.

This was a good book! I’d say it’s on the same level as the first book. While I didn’t mind reading it, I don’t think it’s quite enough to push me into really exploring fantasy. It’s still interesting, and I’m sure I will pick up other fantasy novels (including the other books in this series) in the future, but I doubt it’ll ever become something I heavily enjoy. Overall, this was still a great read, but I’d likely enjoy it more if I were more accustomed to the genre. May recommend to others though!
I loved the ending of shadow and bone, but I was a little disappointed in the ending of siege and storm.
