TW: rape, sexual assault etc, eating disorders
Positives:
• Twist was okay
• The style of writing fits the characterisation of an ‘influencer’ type rather well
• Some sentences did make me laugh (now that’s what i call date rape)
That’s it. I have a list of negatives on my phones, but I will highlight a few here
1) it isn’t a well written book. massive sections are skipped that would otherwise be interesting. no details what do ever
2) the stalking situation is forgotten about and remembered at the whim of the author rather regularly. if it were used to drive kitty to murder then fair enough. but it’s not fleshed out enough
3) handling of eating disorders. it’s not funny. they’re not funny. incredibly insensitive. had to put down the book because i was so gob smacked at sections. where she goes to send her FRIEND WHO SHE KNOWS HAS AN EATING DISORDER A PHOTO OF HERSELF WHERE SHE CAN SEE HER RIBS??? is that meant to be funny? what’s the point of it? so insensitive
4) for a book about feminism #slay it is very misogynistic. i would argue that the comments were satirical but for it to be satire the book would need to have some depth.
5) THE RAPE CHAPTER??? REALLY. BADLY. DONE???
truly, it reads like something i wrote on my computer at 13 and just published without any copy editing at all. only reason it is 2 and not 1 star is because the writing style is purposeful and fits the character (HTKYF tried something similar and did not work out well, so got 1 star) . otherwise it would be 1. we need to stop giving journalists book deals.

An easy holiday read; not the most groundbreaking feminist commentary or the best writing but is surface-level enjoyable with an engaging plot!
Listened to as an audiobook.
Fast paced crime/ thriller but with a comedy aspect to it. At some points I was shocked but then I was laughing. Good storyline to it and just had me hooked. Very short chapters too so easy to pause so quicker to get through as I was able to listen to little bits at a time. Would definitely recommend

Main character was soooo annoying and entitled. I just couldn’t relate to the characters at all. Gave “Female Dexter” vibes, but with no real substance.
