It was entertaining and funny in bits but the language was pretty offensive & the ending highly unrealistic.

(3.25) i have a bit of mixed feelings about this book. the writing is addictive and i flew through it, but the way it handles serious topics bothered me.
there should have been trigger warnings. i know you can look them up online but the blurb doesn’t show how dark the story actually is. rape and eating disorders are often treated carelessly, almost as plot devices rather than real issues. i didn’t like how kitty used her friends’ eating disorders to make them seem stupid or shallow, while acting like she was better than them because she didn’t have one. it felt like their problems were just there to make her look good. her friends weren’t very smart, but that had nothing to do with their eating disorders.
i also didn’t really like kitty as a character. she reminded me of serena van der woodsen. just the way she talks about feminism and women empowerment but constantly keeps bitching on her female friends. she literally said “i’m not like these girls” while being worse.
despite all these issues, i still enjoyed the book because it was pure chaos and totally out of pocket, it got a bit delirious at times. so three stars feels okay for now.
