Not bad

Pretty good but not the best - i miss the old days with Scott, Marge and proper full police departments.

It read a bit like another book was due at the publisher's. The familiar characters held it together for me, and it was a pleasant read but nothing to get excited about.

Received this free from Harper Collins, not sure why as I hadn't won it in a giveaway but glad I did as I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Decker and McAdams get involved in the reasons why a young college student committed suicide naked in the woods which then follows by one of the tutors at his college. Got a bit confused with the math speak (not my favourite subject!) but apart from that the story flowed well.

Having read all of the previous Decker/Lazarus books (and loving them), I felt this one lacked the usual polish and smooth dialog between characters they have always had before. The relationship between McAdams and Decker seemed more antagonistic than was necessary, and it was hard to tell if it was meant to be joking or serious. I found many of the conversations unbelievable and at some points annoying. Overall, I am a huge Faye Kellerman fan, but this one felt a bit forced and not as good as her past work. If 3.5 were an option, I would have rated it that.

Interesting book. Got to reread about FFT and matrix algebra. Ending was a nice twist.

A nice break from the literary world and an easy read. Nice that I couldn't figure out whodunit halfway through the book - it kept me reading all the way to the end.

I liked this more than some of the later books, probably because it's back to the roots: Decker investigating, with his new partner [unofficially] at his side and Rina backing him up. The mathematics was way out of my league, but carefully presented to be accessible to the average reader, and the plot development was outstanding! If you're a fan of these books, you won't be disappointed.
