This book is extremely and I mean extremely slow-paced. It takes patience to go through it but once you do, it’s all worth it.

There are two twins, Tory and Darcy. Once they turn 18, they find out that they are the future queens of another world. But when they arrive at their destination, they are faced with loads of problems.

The book has a ton load of bullying and it’s not just calling out names kind of bullying. It’s the ‘I’ll strangle you to death right here’ type of bullying. So, if it is a trigger for you then steer clear.

The story somehow felt like a Harry Potter retelling with the twins finding out about the school and the houses, etc but the resemblance ends there. The actual setup is of a fairly modern world with tablets n all.

Sometimes we read books that we’re not sure how we feel about and this happening to me right now while writing the review. It’s going solid but the slow pace is discouraging. Yet, I know I wouldn’t DNF because the plot is interesting and as I said, it’s worth it.

My gut keeps telling me that despite everything, the four heirs aren’t really that bad. I feel like they have a reason for doing whatever they are doing though their ways are certainly questionable.

It’s a long series and honestly, this book was like a warmup, acquainting me to the world of magic, fae and a million other creatures. It was mostly world-building with not much plot. Maybe the next book is where the actual events occur.

My main reason for picking this book was that this series has groveling. I confirmed the same from someone who has read the book and I’m excited to see the celestial heir on their knees.

The couples in this book are the most confusing thing ever. There are five guys and two girls. If Tory and Darius were to happen and Darcy and Orion were to happen then what about Caleb and Seth? I’m not even counting Max. Maybe new girls will be introduced soon.

I like to go blind in my books. I dive headfirst and I’m so adamant about it that sometimes, after reading the first book of the series, I don’t even read the blurbs of the upcoming books because I don’t want to spoil anything for myself.

That is why, I am scared that Sofia or Diego might die by the end because they are the main side characters but I also won’t ask anyone about it. Guess, I’m all here for making myself suffer.

I know this book sounded more of a rant but- slow-paced, not much happening- so I don’t have much to review either. I can only hope that Tory and Darcy won’t ever turn on each other.

The main characters seemingly have a rags to riches situation. However that is rather quickly turned on its head as they realize they have very few, if any, allies in this new world… They will have to rely on each other and the wits they developed on the streets on the mortal realm to survive at Zodiac Academy.

It was clear the book wasn't meant to be serious at all times. The Author's aren't afraid to make obvious jokes but nonetheless the book should come with some serious trigger warnings.
I wasn't aware going into the book that it contained outlandish levels of bullying. Like to the point where it's hard for me to find any redeemable qualities in the perpetrators. Consent is near non existent in the books to a level that it is borderline worthy of a dark romance tag. And the characters themselves are very trope heavy.

That being said. It was still a fun read. The concept of the astrology based school was interesting, and I am definitely going to read book 2. I am just crossing my fingers that there is a love interest who isn't a total jerk, or we at least get a deeper glance behind the veil to learn why they are being that obnoxiously cruel.

Rating: 4/5 stars

While in the end I did enjoy this book, it did take me a minute to really get into it. I struggled with sympathizing with the sisters at first, as they were so focused on themselves they didn't take until consideration what them being found and brought to Zodiac meant for the boys and their futures. But as the story moved forward it became easier to empathize with their situation, while also enjoying the plot and twist and turns the authors threw in. I have seven other books to read this month but then I will for sure be continuing this series.

Going into this I actually knew nothing about the book or this series but I actually really enjoyed it and it became rather addictive to read towards the end.

I loved all of the elemental magic, the horoscopes and tarot, and of course that there are vampires, werewolves and dragons walking the halls of the school even if they are hot-as-heck assholes.

Darcy and Tory’s quips have me laughing out loud, their wit is quick and talon sharp and despite not knowing the true extent of their powers are still absolutely badass.

I really liked the mystery aspect of the story, it kept me on my toes trying to uncover it and continually questioning certain characters true intent and whether they could be trusted or not.

There are tropes in this book (bully romance) that are definitely not for everyone. It does not contain sexual assault or rape, however it does contains bullying and hazing which in my opinion serve a purpose to the plot.
