A solid 3.5 stars! I really enjoyed this book, and the audiobook narrator was great. As others have suggested, the multiple perspectives and characters was hard to follow at times.

Thank you to NetGalley for an arc audiobook!

This is my third Alex North book and it did not disappoint. He does an amazing job of giving us the perfect thriller. This one definitely has a lot going on and if you are not someone who enjoys multiple POV/timelines then this not for you! However, without these multiple POVs I do not think this story would have been what it was. You were able to really understand the characters more and get more invested. I loved this concept of how these people were all intertwined to lead us to where we are. Alex north definitely seems to always deliver a thriller that gives you that shock factor- and for that I'm grateful!

I am so confused. I don't know if it had something to do with the narrator, who I struggled to pay attention to, or the book itself.

I really struggled to follow each storyline and see how they connected to one another. Then the timeline jumped around, and I got thoroughly lost.

Someone was murdered at the beginning, right after he fired his entire staff. Another person was brutally attacked some years before, he survived the attack and is now estranged from his family. His sister is married with a child, and the children at the girl's school see someone watching them in a car, which is somehow related to the brother, maybe, or something else? Then there are the detectives who are looking into the murder, it's their storyline that brings it all together.

Expect, I didn't follow how it was all connected.

All that said, I am very much in the minority with this review, but if you find yourself struggling to follow along, just know you aren't alone.

Thanks to NetGalley I got an arc of the audio version, if this hadn't been an arc I would have DNF'd 33% in.

This was really a bit disappointing in comparison to The Shadows and The Whisper Man. I’m not sure if there were too many plots going on, or if the characters were just not as interesting, but it failed to grab my attention like his other novels have.

Thank you NetGalley and Publishers for this audio book for an honest review.

This was a quick listen and the narrator Rosalie Craig did a great job. This book goes back and forth in the time frames and had multiple point of views. This was something that I didn't care for due to getting so mixed up in the book. I honestly didn't have any connection and or cared for the characters.
