Oh those twists! I loved the unraveling of the connections. Great buildup - very intriguing, held my attention.
I read this in a few hours - I could not put it down.
I had to know the connections -very well executed.

I really enjoyed The Whisper Man when it came out. I even liked The Shadows. So when I saw this book didn't have that stellar of a rating, I hesitated to pick it up, but eventually I saw it on Book Outlet and thought it was time to give it a try.

How do you outrun a killer who knows what's going to happen in the future? Katie Shaw has been grappling with the tragedy of what happened to her younger brother for years and feels immense guilt. When he loses his way, she loses faith and starts to sense danger all around her and her family. Meanwhile, two detectives are investigating the stabbing death of an old, eccentric millionaire just hours after firing all his staff, almost like he knew what was coming. All leads point back to Katie's brother, Chris.

I had a hard time following this. It never really sucked me in and then I kept getting names confused. I don't know if that's because I wasn't wholly invested or what, but this one didn't work out for me.

⭐⭐⭐

I have a habit of adding each new Alex North release to my TBR list without ever reading a single one.

That changes today.

DID NOT FINISH: 23%

Wasn’t following along

I was hooked on the first chapter……….. And then it fizzled out pretty quickly. So many characters to keep track of, a few different story lines, and overall didn’t pack the punch of a thriller that we know and love from North.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Just not for me. The most impressive aspect of this book was how the premise (still fascinated by it) managed to motivate me through one of the thickest (unnecessarily so) plots I’ve come across. By the end it felt like trying to solve a Rubik’s cube that is missing a colour. Just didn’t work for me and felt more frustrating than satisfying.

Massive thanks to Celadon books for sending me an ARC!
