I liked book 1. It was good enough that I wanted to read book 2. I put it on hold at the library and waited a month to get it since the series is so popular right now.

I DEVOURED this book. It's 600+ pages, and I read it after work in 4 days. I finished it last night, decided I was too impatient for the hold on book 3 to come in, so I just bought it so I can start reading it tonight.

This book continues the story, picking up almost right after book 1 ends. After everything that was endured by our main characters, their experiences with nightmares, fear, panic, essentially PTSD are left bare on the page.

The book spends more time devoted to history and deeper world building. But it's done in a way to keep moving the plot forward. The author is descriptive without being verbose. The characters are relatable even though they are immortal faeries.

The book also does a good job of exploring toxic relationships, and how people (faeries?) change during a relationship, especially when traumatic events happen. If abusive relationships are a trigger for you, this book might be difficult.

Ok SJM really upped the ante with the second installment of this series! I found this book to be much more enjoyable than the first. The world building and character development, especially Feyre’s emotional journey, were really well-written. I also loved the reveal of unexpected facets of other characters that were introduced in the first book. SJM does a great job of creating layered characters that are not always as they seem upon first introduction. The book is long, but the story telling and action keep you engaged and hooked the entire time. I’m looking forward to reading the third!

Omg this book is so goddamn good. I am absolutely in love with Rhysand. He’s still so very sassy. Such a great guy.
it’s so sad about what happened with him and what Amaratha made him do. I fucking hate Tamlin, like he needs to die.
I’m in love with Armen and Mor. Azriel and Cassian have my entire heart.
I swear if his wings are ruined I’m suing.

After I finished A Court of Thorns & Roses, I immediately began scouring the internet for Feylin playlists. The number of playlists titled "**** you, Tamlin" was... far more than I'd ever expected, to say the least. Thus, I cracked open A Court of Mist & Fury, eager to learn what exactly had turned the crowd against Tamlin. I didn't expect it to take me such a short amount of time.

A Court of Mist & Fury follows Feyre's journey after she and Tamlin escape Under the Mountain. Thus, it's important to note that this story deals with heavy topics, like trauma and abuse. But, in my opinion, A Court of Mist & Fury handles them very well. As a woman still healing from her own traumatic experience, reading about Feyre's struggle and recovery was validating, and akin to another wave of healing, all its own. This book sees Feyre come into her own: her own power, confidence, and fury.

This book made me silently scream, attempting not to wake my housemates as I reeled at the character development, plot twists, and the renowned Chapter 42. Never have I been so shocked (IT'S WORTH THE SHOCK) by a book's ending. I immediately raced to the Kindle Store to download A Court of Wings & Ruin

A Court of Mist & Fury is flawed, for sure. It lacks the simple, easy-to-follow plot A Court of Thorns & Roses held. But what it lacks for in clarity, it 110% makes up for in character.

I wish I could say more! But alas, there are too many WONDERFUL things in this book to risk spoiling them. A Court of Mist & Fury is undoubtedly worth the read.
