Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review
This is a short, cute story about childhood friends to lovers. Kasumi and Kyousuke, two boys with very opposite personalities, struggle to come to terms with their feelings for each other. There’s a good mix of angst, sweet moments, and smut.
I really thought I would enjoy this more—I always love the trope of lovers who are polar opposites. However, I ended up finding the story quite boring. I’ve read enough romance to say that this was not unique at all and was way too cliche and predictable to keep my attention. The characters weren’t as interesting as I thought they would be and quite honestly I found them to be a bit annoying at times. I also thought the timing was confusing.
I do think others who either don’t heavily read romance or don’t mind cliches would find There Are Things I Can’t Tell You enjoyable. But if you’re looking for something fresh and new, this isn’t the story for you.

Note: I only rate manga in whole star ratings
Ya know what, for a one shot manga this one was pretty good. I love the art style, and the way all the characters dress uniquely. Obviously because it is a one shot there's only so much character building that can occur, but I thought the author did a pretty good job. You get to learn about each of the MC's individual childhoods until they meet each other and how their friendship came to be, which was adorable. It was easy to understand who they were and why.
Overall it was enjoyable for what it was. It could have been better if the story had spanned 2 or 3 volumes, but it is what it is.

honestly would be phenomenal if it was longer. I needed more. which is always my gripe with manga.

This was really sweet. Kasumi and Kyousuke’s path to being honest about their love for each other was rocky and full of emotional pitfalls but they go there in the end in a very sweet and cathartic way.
I only wish it had been longer and we had gotten more than one chapter from Kasumi’s POV, but still enjoyable either way.
