Welcome to the Diversishelf Book Club! We're thrilled to announce our inaugural nonfiction book club, launching this June in celebration of Pride Month. Our first selection is "None of the Above: Reflections on Life Beyond the Binary" by Travis Alabanza. This book is a powerful exploration of identity, challenging societal norms and offering profound insights into life beyond traditional gender binaries.
At Diversishelf, we believe that reading is political and an act of resistance. Our book club is designed to engage our community in deep, meaningful discussions that align with our core values: Anti-ableism, Anti-racism & white supremacy, Anti-queerphobia & transphobia, Anti-misogyny & patriarchy, Anti-colonialism, Anti-monosexism, heterosexism, & cisgenderism, Pro-survivor & anti-abuse, Anti-capitalism, Harm reduction & trauma-informed responses, and Abolition & transformative justice.
How It Works
We will read approximately 50 pages of "None of the Above" each week, with readings due every Saturday. To facilitate ongoing discussion and reflection, we’ve chosen StoryGraph as our platform. Here, you’ll find sub-forums dedicated to each chapter, where you can share your thoughts and engage with other members' comments.
