Bear species challenge 🐻 - hosted by ancaciochina

🐻 the American black bear – let’s read a narrative part of Migrant literature set in North America, by Asian-American writers.
The American & Asian black bears and the sun bear are fairly closely related, being all arboreal species. About 4.58 million years ago, sun bears split into two lineages: one gave rise to American black bears and Asian black bears. American and Asian black bears became distinct species about 4.08 million years ago. The oldest fossils of American black bears, found in Port Kennedy, Pennsylvania, look very similar to their Asian relatives.
I would like to find a book with 2 perspectives, one of an emigrant and the second of a person how is still in the original country or with a dual timeline, before and after emigration, but is just something that I am hoping for. Both fiction and memoirs/biographies count.

🧸️ About the American black bear: Black bears usually live alone, except when they have cubs or when they mate (May - July). After mating, the embryo stays in the female's body until fall, when she goes into her den. This is called delayed implantation and it happens in all bears. It helps the female save energy and fat for a successful pregnancy. If she is not healthy enough, the embryo will not grow. Female black bears can have cubs every two years if there is enough food. Sometimes they wait longer if food is scarce. The cubs are born in the den and stay with their mother for another winter. A litter of black bears can have one to five cubs, but two is the most common number. Black bears can live for 30 years in the wild, but they usually die before they reach their early 20s.
