'Tis the Season
Happy Holidays to Us All: Okay, let me be real. I really wanted this to be a prompt to highlight the other dozen or so holidays that take place between November and February, but it turns out that other than non-fiction and children’s books, there aren’t a lot of novels that take place during the other holidays where the book is centered around that holiday. So, you can read a non-fiction or children’s book about a holiday you don’t know much about. These include (but not limited to) Diwali, Guy Fawkes Night, Krampusnacht, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa,  Hogmanay, Yule/Winter Solstice/Yalda, Lunar New Year, Mardi Gras/Carnival, and Ramadan/Eid (it takes place in the winter sometimes!). And if you can find a YA or adult novel about one of these holidays, then great! Or just read a book written by and with characters that represent the regions where these holidays come from! It’s pretty much a catch all prompt! It’s a good thing it’s a bonus one! Happy New Year! Joyful Kwanzaa! Eid Mubarak! Hanukkah Sameach! Blessed Yule! Happy Diwali!
