Bear species challenge 🐻 - hosted by ancaciochina

🐻 the Asiatic black bear, also known as moon bear (selenarctos thibetanus) – let's read a book where the moon has an important role.
Because the Asiatic black bear is also known as the moon bear, this prompt is here. It can be the earth satellite, the goddess moon (no matter the culture), some mythological or astrological reference to moon, your choice.
For example, the bear is a messenger of God for the Ainu people who live in northern Japan. They believe that the bear can communicate with God and bring back divine messages. The bear with a white mark on its chest is especially sacred, because it represents the Buddhist Goddess Kwan-Yin. She is the Goddess of Great Mercy and the bear is her envoy. She has a crescent moon as her symbol, which she gave to the bear as a sign of her grace.
Maybe you manage to pick a book related to Asian culture, or a book that is not in one of your most read genres.

📚 Suggestions of books / authors:
·       My first recommendation is Sailor Moon, a shōjo manga from Japan
·       "The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida" by the Sri Lankan writer Shehan Karunatilaka is also fit the prompt
·       Another book that fit this prompt is "The Order of the Pure Moon Reflected in Water" by the Malay author Zen Cho

🧸️ About the Asiatic black bear: It has long ears, a short tail, and a small but massive skull. It is smaller and lighter than the brown bear, and has less developed skull projections. It lives in Asia and can weigh up to 200 kg (440 lb) for males and 140 kg (310 lb) for females. This animal lives in different kinds of forests with trees and bushes. It likes to stay high up in the mountains when it is warm, but not too high. When it is cold, it comes down to lower places. In Japan, it can be found near the ocean as well.
