Religious Literacy: Religions Around the World (OwnVoices) - hosted by krixano
A book from a Jew or Jewish Scripture
Jewish Scripture includes the Hebrew Bible, which is not quite the same as the Old Testament. The JPS, "The Contemporary Torah" (a gender-sensitive version of the JPS), or the Koren Tanakh translations are recommended. Jewish Scriptures also include the Mishnah and the Talmud. Many of these are available for free on https://sefaria.org
If you want to go more in depth, you can read one book from Orthodox Judaism, one from "Conservative Judaism", one from Reform Judaism, and one from Reconstructionist. There are also the mystical Kabbalah works, as well as "legal" Halakhah works, and Philosophical Jewish works (Maimonides, Abraham Joshua Heschel, Martin Buber, Philo, etc.)
