Middle grade fantasy-mystery
I first read this in 7th grade and I fell in love with the series. It takes place in New York where a small town called Ferryport Landing where you find that the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales were real. You follow two young girls who are the Brothers Grimm ancestors and are encouraged to take on their legacy. 

This is a ten book series (including the guide book), but I swear on my childhood nostalgia that it's worth it.
