"Literary fiction" is often used academically to distinguish books that are seen as more valuable from a variety of genres but I use it here as short hand for a fiction book that is not genre fiction. This can mean autobiographical fiction, contemporary fiction, or fiction of any kind that is not easily categorized as horror, fantasy, science/speculative fiction, etc. Magical realism is often part of traditionally defined literary fiction.
