" Brief note on Purpose of this reading: My purpose in choosing this collection of poetry is to expose our book club readers to the wide variety of poetry that jazz music created. There are many poems in this book, and given that we will read this during the busiest time of year, I hardly expect anyone to read every poem within these sections. However, I hope that the shorter length of poetry will encourage people to pick up the book and read a few poems from each section. I will highlight a few poems throughout the month that I think are well-worth readers’ time (although they all are worth the time to read!), and hope that even if the reader does not read the entire anthology of poems, they will enjoy reading highlights from it.
