Overview

This is an (unofficial) challenge I created to track my reading of the books and stories paired with cards for Brink Literacy Project's The Literary Tarot. I hope to read everything included eventually and thought others might like to join too!

The Literary Tarot pairs each tarot card with a classic book or story, and the pairings are chosen by current authors and cartoonists. The suits in this tarot deck are represented by literary objects - Quills (Swords), Ink (Wands), Parchment (Coins) and Light (Cups).

The works are all out of copyright so should mostly be readily available for free online! Some are stories or folklore so there might be lots of options for books or ways to read them. Use what you feel fits and have fun!

From Brink themselves: "Brink Literacy Project is a 501(c)3 nonprofit devoted to utilizing the power of storytelling to positively affect the lives of people on the brink. Through our education, community, and publishing divisions, our nonprofit works worldwide to foster a love of literature, increase literacy rates, and empower underserved communities through storytelling."

You can read more about The Literary Tarot and Brink's work at https://www.brinklit.org/ and https://frictionlit.org/

As bonus prompts, I'll be adding a prompt for any work by each of the contributing authors who chose a pairing - the authors make all sorts of works, and some of them are new/emerging writers who might not have much published yet. I'll also include the alternate pairings chosen by Kickstarter backers for some of the major arcana cards, which were included in the optional booster pack.

In total there are 78 prompts, with 78 + 6 bonus prompts (with one of the bonus prompts overlapping with a standard prompt) - so all in all, 161 things to read! There is no start or end date, so please complete at your own pace.
