Overview

Read 25 books that are either 1)Translated works by women, i.e. originally published in a language other than your own 2)books by women from countries other than your own, and/or 3)Stories about a Female main character(s) in another country that is also written by a woman. I will personally be reading a lot of books placed in or by authors in India, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and a few other North African countries. Works by Nonbinary, gendernonconforming, and genderexpansive writers and characters are welcome to be included in this challenge if you would like. The goal is not to further exclude by only including a specific definition of "women" but to decenter men in foreign written works. If you think something else may apply, just use your personal discernment! For example, some books written by an indigenous Native American woman might be valid to apply based on its additional perspective outside of our mainstream white-centered culture. To not would also be ignorant to the reality of transboundary indigenous identities and their place here long before country borders. Please join if this interests you!
