»Books and Bao« is a 'literature, travel, and culture site', as the founders Jess and Willow put it. (YouTube and social media are run by Willow.) There are weekly articles and/or videos, with book recommendations that span a wide range of genres. Often, they include gems that you won't find just about anywhere. Fiction in translation, fiction by queer writers, fiction by and about women, fiction by indie publishers …

Books and Bao explores and celebrates the best of literature in translation from around the world, as well as queer fiction and books by people of colour. We publish regular articles and YouTube videos that share our love of world literature.

I plan to update the challenge in the course of the year when Willow adds new content that is relevant to the prompts. If you prefer to read in a language other than English, translations of the relevant novels are welcome!

Important: You are not restricted to books that have already been added to the prompts! As long as a novel fits the prompt description and was mentioned on the Books and Bao website or social media, feel free to add it yourself!

At the moment, this functions is till a bit wonky on StoryGraph. To add a book to the challenge, do this: 1) Search for the book in the usual search field in the upper right, click on it. 2) Scroll down, past the description, and you will get to a link "Add to reading challenges". This will open a list of all challenges you are taking part in.
