Overview
An evergreen and evolving readalog/challenge that centres Classic Black Horror.
The goal is to reclaim the horror cannon by showcasing the work of horror writers who came before us but whose work is rarely highlighted due in part to gatekeeping in past and present literary circles.
Criteria
Selections are subjective and based entirely on my mood. However, I'm trying to go with the standard definition of a "classic" i.e. published AT LEAST 25 years ago. This means anywork published BEFORE 2000.
Genre
The goal is for the challenge to feature horror fiction but while every book I've chosen has horror elements, it might fit more in other adjacent categories like mystery or crime. But I'm not trying to be super rigid about categories because that often how these voices have been left out of horror in the first place.
