“WE ARE HERE” 2025 Trans Reading Challenge
#wearehere2025
Things feel sad and scary right now. I love my trans friends and the beautiful diversity of our stories. I hope you keep reading and I hope you keep writing. I’m sending the biggest warmest safest hugs to all consenting.
We are here.
This reading challenge will launch in January 2025 on Storygraph and Instagram. Books selected for each category should center trans and gender diverse characters, ideally from trans authors.
We are here.
This challenge has been in the drafts for a while. But now after the US election, it feels more important than ever that our stories are heard and that we nurture spaces to celebrate the beauty of our community.
We are here.
It’s also a big “f*ck you” to hateful fascist transphobes who would rather silence us. We will not be erased. We will not be censored. We will keep our stories alive.
We are here.
This will be a fun and easy way for trans people and our allies to pool recommendations and lift up the trans stories that make us feel seen and safe and celebrated.
We are here.
How to Use:
I used the word “challenge” because that’s what the Storygraph feature is called. But there doesn’t have to be any pressure on this, you don’t need to check all the boxes or “finish” by a certain deadline in order to participate. As such, all prompts have been listed as “Bonus.” The same book can be used for more than one prompt. I encourage you to use it in whatever way feels good for you.
