Overview
Welcome to the Luau Potluck Readathon, where we’re reading to create the best contribution to the legendary Luau potluck! This event is all about strategy, dedication, and a little bit of fun competition. Are you ready to make your mark in A Year in the Valley?
Step 1: Choose Your Ingredient
Each participant selects one ingredient from the provided list.
Choose wisely. Once you’ve selected an ingredient, you cannot switch or choose another during the event. Ingredients could impact the soup in a variety of ways.
Step 2: Level Up Your Ingredient
Each ingredient has four levels: Regular, Silver, Gold and Iridium. Complete the reading prompt for each level in order. Your goal is to achieve the highest possible level for your ingredient.
Step 3: Submit Your Ingredient & Level Read
Each ingredient will have different scores. For this challenge, we are asking you to submit your ingredient and level on the forms in the Discord.
Once the readathon concludes, we’ll come together as a community to review all the ingredients and determine just how delicious our potluck turned out to be! We’ll reveal the results, celebrate our accomplishments, and hand out rewards to recognize everyone’s contributions.
Let’s see if our combined efforts can impress the Stardew Valley villagers!

Rules
- Prompts must be completed in order.
- Only select 1 ingredient from the list.
- Only 1 book per prompt may count towards rewards.
- Challenge runs from July 1st to July 31st.
- If you participated in a prior month’s readathon and earned a reward, you can use it during this challenge. We will not be rewarding any “prompt” related bonuses this month.
- DNFs and books started before the month are allowed as long as 50% is read during the month. Books must be at least 100 pages!
FAQs
- How many books do I need to read to receive a reward? You must read a minimum of 1 book during the readathon to receive a reward. Each level will have standard rewards that are outlined below. If you participate in the readathon, we will also have a community reward.
- Can books read for one reward level count towards another? Unfortunately, with how we have set up this readathon, you can only read 1 book for 1 prompt.
- What’s the minimum amount of books I’ll have to read to obtain all X rewards? You must read a total of 4 books to receive all of the rewards.
- Can I obtain the 3rd reward without obtaining the 2nd? You cannot. You must read each prompt in order. In this example, you would have to read the Silver level prompt prior to reading the Gold level prompt.
- Why can’t I choose more than one ingredient? We wanted to give everyone a break from reading a large amount of books / attempting to complete all the prompts this month. You can read more than one ingredient, BUT you cannot claim the rewards and please do not submit via the form! We will be running calculations this month which could impact the community reward results.
