We know that celebrating independence in storytelling improves the pool of stories that are available for us to enjoy. It creates more access for a diverse range of voices to tell those stories. It also ultimately sways the publishing industry and puts pressure on them to give lucrative deals to authors who have shown they can reach readers with or without traditional backing. 

So to honor these hard working authors and the wonderful ways that they have shared their gifts for storytelling with all of us, let's spend the season's long evenings reading awesome indie romances.

We’re Including works that are either self-published by the author or released through an independent publisher 

(we're going to focus primarily on self-pub) 

Some indie publishers you might recognize include 

Harlequin, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and Kensington Books 

an indie publishing house might also be called a small press or a boutique publishing house 

Some indie authors have their own LLC listed as their publisher
