Overview
Hello hello! It’s time to unveil the 2025 Be Intentional Reading Challenge! We are back for another year! This is a reading challenge to encourage readers to keep seeking out marginalized voices and read them all year round. I hope this challenge will help you find new favorites and encourage you to pick up books you wouldn’t otherwise.
There are 140 prompts in the full version. That is twenty books across seven categories: Queer/LGBTQIAP2S+, BIPOC, Disability, Religion, Language & Geography, Non-fiction and Miscellaneous.
Coming soon are two mini challenges: one with 70 prompts and one with 35. This breaks down to 10 or 5 per category. Some of the prompts will be required in the mini versions and at least 1/category will be a choice from the larger 20 prompts. I am planning to post both by the end of this month!
Regardless of what version you pick or how many prompts you complete, putting in the work to diversify your reading is a beautiful and powerful thing.
Storygraph mini versions and IG story template graphics coming by the end of the month!
As for the rules: read the book in 2025, and prioritize books by own voices authors. This is meant to work as a 1 book per prompt challenge. You can also pick a specific category to work on rather than all seven.
I’ll be recommending 5 books for each prompt in the categories starting in January. You can also DM me on Instagram at any time if you have a question about whether a book would fit. I recommend double checking any books recommended on the Storygraph challenge.
Lastly, this challenge is not exhaustive. I did my very best to cover a lot of different aspects of human diversity. However, you could write a 1000 prompt challenge and still miss things.
