Finding the Best Werewolf Fiction, An Ongoing Quest

As a werewolf enthusiast I feel that there is a serious lack of knowledge on my part of actually good werewolf novels. So I will be working my way through the most recommended ones I find until I find one that I think is just *chef's kiss*.

Specifically, I want to find a werewolf novel that is:
1. Not a romance novel (unless it's LGBTQIA+, the straights can't have everything)
2. Doesn't make me cringe
3. Showcases how cool werewolves are in a unique way
