Dear Reader,
18+ CHALLENGE
Welcome to my 2022 Smutober Reading Challenge! It’s spooky, sexy season! This is just a fun spicy/smutty reading challenge to help you relax this chilly, cosy season. To be clear, this is a romance reading challenge, you can go as spicy as you want, and you could even read a clean romance if that’s more your speed. There’s 11 prompts, but only 6 prompts are compulsory (that’s only 1.5 books a week). This is a quick, easy, and fun challenge that any reader can enjoy.
Again, you can gauge the spice level! Read anything from a steamy romance to straight erotica/smut if you want. If you notice, the bonus prompts are the ones that I thought you were more likely to find smut for, and the compulsory prompts are ones you can definitely find non-smut options to choose from.
I've added a few book options to each prompt to give you some ideas, but you're more than welcome to read whatever book you want to fulfill the prompt requirements! I tried to steer clear of the more popular authors and books that are found on BookTok/Bookstagram or just big name books (but there’s still a bunch there!). I also tried to be as inclusive as I could and collected books that represented (and were written by) LGBTQIA+, plus-sized, BIPOC, and disabled characters, but feel free to add your own recommendations to make the challenge as inclusive as possible. I haven’t read most of these books, so they're not recommendations from me, but ones I found to fit the criteria for the prompts. That being said, some of these books could be terrible, and some of them could be problematic (which I tried really hard to sus out but I went through over 200 books). I tried to only include books that had a rating of 3.30 or higher just to be sure, but that's no guarantee. They’re mostly there to give you an idea of what the prompt is looking for and to help you if you’re having trouble choosing something.
*Note that pretty much all of the options I’ve given are on the more smuttier side, but again, read whatever romance novel that fits the prompt and gets your heart pounding!
THIS IS A JUDGMENT-FREE ZONE, read whatever your little heart desires, but STEER CLEAR from books that are racist, ablist, homophobic, xenophobic, etc. With all the controversies going on, it shouldn’t be hard to do a quick check on a book (even the ones I’ve added cause I can’t catch everything) and make sure it’s not the bad kind of problematic (cause let’s face it, some of us like some degrading and taboo things that could have our feminist cards revoked).
Keep in mind that there's A LOT of crossovers with the books I've added, therefore there may be witchy elements in some of the books not in the Everyone Loves a Witch prompt, and there may be some books scattered throughout that handle difficult topics. But if you see a book in one prompt that could satisfy another prompt, feel free to use it for both! Unlike my other challenges, there’s absolutely NO YA books in this challenge. This is a challenge for readers 18+ ONLY.
ALWAYS check a book and its trigger warnings before reading!! There’s a lot of messed up and graphic books scattered throughout these suggestions as I tried to provide a variety for each prompt.
Happy Reading! Happy Halloween! And enjoy the sexy vibes!
Love,
Rose
