Overview
Obscure, niche holidays are my favorite thing, so here’s a reading challenge!
[Note: for the first challenge, I picked mostly American holidays; in the future I hope to include more international holidays]
TL;DR: 4 prompts per month. You only need to complete one each month. Read in any format. Recommendations available, and will be posted every month.
Add as many books as you want to each prompt!
Every month has four holidays and four prompts: Easy, Moderate; Hard; Extreme (with a bonus challenge!)
You only need to complete one prompt each month, and you can use one book for multiple prompts (only for the month(s) that you read that book)
You don’t need to complete the challenge on the exact holiday (unless you really want — bonus points if you do)
This challenge should be accessible for everyone.
Prompts are open to interpretation, and you can read your book(s) in whatever format is easiest.
Want to read picture books for every one? Go for it! Fanfiction? Do it! Audiobooks? Put on those headphones, set it at 3x speed, and go wild🔥

I’ve left recommendations on each challenge, but feel free to add more. Also, please let me know if a book should be removed; I try to keep up with author controversies and boycotts, but I’m only one person and sometimes I miss things.
Recommendation posts will also come out every month on my Instagram @mothreadsbookssometimes, so check those out.
[Also, the numbering systems for the prompts are weird because StoryGraph won’t cooperate otherwise. First digit is the month, second digit is the difficulty level:
