There are two ways you can choose to play -
- Use the board to build a TBR at the beginning of the month - This is the way I play, using 5 rolls as a standard amount and adding extras if I roll a double.
- Roll as you go - If you are a mood reader you may prefer to play this way. Start by rolling to pick your first prompt and then roll again when you finish your book.
You Will Need
- A counter to move around the board (I use a magnetic bookmark)
- 2 x 6 sided die
- 16 x Community Shelf Cards - Printable versions of these have been provided for you to write on the reverse of. On each of these cards, write a prompt e.g. read a fantasy, read the oldest book on your Goodreads TBR etc. When you land on Community Shelf, you must complete this prompt. For extra fun, make the prompts a mix of “good” and “bad” (If you only read a few books a month, you may not need 16, adjust the number if you want to)

16 x Chance Cards - Printable versions of these have been provided for you to write on the reverse of. On each of these cards, write the title of a book on your TBR. If you land on Chance, you must read the book written on the card you have picked up. For extra fun, make the card deck consist of 8 books you are really excited to read, and 8 books you are less excited to read. (If you only read a few books a month, you may not need 16, adjust the number if you want to)
- If you do not access to a printer you can make cards or make a numbered list and randomly select them using a random number generator
The Rules
- If you are building a TBR at the beginning of the month, the amount of rolls you choose is up to you. I use 5 + doubles because 5 is an achievable amount of books for me to read in a month.
- You must start on the Go space.
- Use both 6 sided die to move around the board
- If you cannot find a book to fulfill the prompt you have landed on, you may choose to roll again, however if you choose to do this then you will have to select 2 books for the next space you land on.
- If you roll a double (the same number displayed on both dice) then you must roll again and add another book to your TBR
