A Mutiny in Time by James Dashner

4.0

I enjoyed the concept behind this new series from Scholastic. James Dashner has gotten the Infinity Ring series off to a good start. Dak and Sera live in a world going increasingly wrong, increasingly ruled by the SQ. Sera is able to finish an invention Dak's parents have been working on for quite awhile, which allows them the ability to travel through time. Right as they discover the capabilities of the Infinity Ring for time travel, Dak and Sera meet the Hystorians, whose mission is to repair "Breaks" in history, first discovered by Aristotle. Dak and Sera then travel back in time to the time of Christopher Columbus' famous voyage to stop a mutiny.

The book got off to a somewhat slow start, but promises to be interesting as the series continues and Dak and Sera are tasked with repairing more breaks. I enjoyed Dashner's description of the historical setting of 1492 Spain - especially how everything seems more vivid and fresh to Dak and Sera.
