This was definitely a good book but not as good as All the Stars and Teeth. This was probably due to Amoras character which had changed. I understand why because of her father sacrificing himself and she was swallowed by greive. However, this lasted for the whole book and she pushed away all her friends which made the book less interesting as they had less interaction. Aside from this, the plot was really interesting, with Amora having to find the artefact to break hers and Bastians curse, along with Amora meeting bachelors to cover up her true mission to fighting a legendary beast. I was surprised at the fact that Amora and Vateas friendship was ruined at the end I thought that Vatea would have forgiven Amora for keeping Blarthe a secret. I was really sad at the end when Ferrick sacrificed himself and how everyone’s memories of him were erased. I loved the fact that Amora told the truth at the end and ended a manipulative and fake monarchy. I was glad that Amora and Bastain were able to live a happy live together having adventures on the sea.
