In this darkly comedic enemies to lovers romance, Harper is hiding her true identity in the quirky town of Cape Carnage. Unfortunately for her, several people have their sights set on bringing her down. One of them is Nolan Rhodes, the handsome but murderous man out for revenge. Harper isn’t the monster he imagined, and they end up teaming up against the real monsters they encounter.
First, it must be said that this series isn’t for the faint of heart. It is gory, a mix of horror, mystery, romance, and dark content (please check content warnings ahead of reading). However, it was so much fun for those who enjoy a wild ride! I liked this book more than Brynn Weaver’s first series, and really enjoyed the mystery element and cliffhanger ending and characters we were introduced to in this book. Although the themes were dark, the characters were also caring and likable in their own way. Of course, the author’s signature dark humor is woven into the story and managed to bring quite a bit of levity to what could have been a very heavy storyline. I’m eager for the continuation of this tale!
Thank you to Brynn Weaver and Zando for the arc and opportunity to be an early reader and reviewer.
