I really enjoyed the swapped between perspectives and how the story used flashback to explore character and set up important moments later on.
As a white reader I found it elucidating to discover an intimate exploration of immigrant Indian people and their children.
My only gripe is that I wished the sister had some parts of her story from her perspective.
