Like Ninth House, Hellbent starts slow - build-up of clues, horror, creepiness, and shit that goes bump in the night.
Hellbent picks up where we left off in Ninth House, Galaxy ( Alex) Stern is a Wheelwalker and holding on to hope of finding Lethe's Golden Boy, Darlington. The book is split into two parts: As above & So below. We are shown Alex with help from Dawes finding clues and performing wild ceremonies to open a doorway to hell👀.
💜I love seeing Alex blooming in confidence and her no fucks given attitude as she sets out to prove folks wrong. Also, seeing the continuation of characters from Ninth House get their story told was layer I didn't know I needed.
When the climax came---it never stopped. Let's just say---Golden Boy Darlington's new reveal was given in the words of Lil' Kim "Money. Power. Respect." Oh, the vivid descriptions of stiff gold dicks was everything-- I was not ready lol🥵, the dreams, and descent to the Gauntlet!
🗣Let's talk about platonic relationships in books--- I want more. I adore Turner and Alexa, Dawes & Darlington, Mercy & Alex, Tripp with everyone. I won't lie if I didn't admit to enjoying Alex and Darlington's reunion and their connection. When the Wheelwalker and the Golden boy of Lethe combine forces, you get a tic-tic boo. Furthermore, I like how the author closed loops in the story and making all the puzzle pieces fit😈🔥
Lastly, the additional elements such as Cosmo the cat and the Salt spirits were the happy balm we all needed.
How the book ended, I wondered will there be Book 3?
Lastly, the cover makes so much sense now🐰
