“Damn, you’re bullheaded. Didn’t you hear anything I said last night? I can be tough and mean, freckles. I don’t just like to dominate a submissive; I like to own her while she’s in training with me. You think I’m bossy now? You have no. Fucking. Idea.”
Grant runs an exclusive BDSM resort and he’s been searching for a new sub to train for months. He hasn’t taken anyone on and in fact, has remained alone for quite some time. He’s busy running his club and the winery that’s also on his property, but one night he finds Charli in her wrecked car and takes her to a cabin on the outskirts of his resort to figure out what happened. Charli was run off the road by another car and her brother demands that she have protection. To avoid her overbearing brother, she agrees to Grant watching out for her as her wreck seems to be related to a sports story scandal she’s starting to uncover. She doesn’t want to give up the story and like it or not, needs someone to watch her back while she gathers all the information. She’s also fighting for an on air position with the sports network that she works for and after initially being turned down for a side line reporter spot, she’s crushed with the reasons they gave her for not putting her on TV: not good enough on camera, rough around the edges, not feminine enough. When she accidentally finds out what Grant’s resort is all about, she decides to turn things up a notch. She’s not too sure about the BDSM aspect, but she wants Grant to teach her to be more feminine, more desirable in the hopes that it will help her come across on TV like the network executives want and finally land her dream job she’s wanted since she was little. Little does she know what she’s getting herself into with Grant.
Grant is fighting demons from his past, having never moved past the pain from losing his wife and unborn child. He agrees to take on Charli but makes it clear that they’ll be going ALL in for the next two weeks. She may want to learn to be a little more sexual and less of a tomboy, but Grant doesn’t do anything in half measures. He’s a Dom and he expects Charli to become submissive to him during their time together. This was a dynamic I loved because Charli, even when she’s trying hard to fit the role, her first instinct is to question everything, it’s hard for her to follow Grant’s demands and they end up butting heads, a lot. I found it amusing, they have great banter and even when things get very heavy for them and Charli finds herself more and more attracted and responsive to Grant, she doesn’t completely lose herself. Even at the end, she’s still that spunky, opinionated woman, just made to be a little softer, especially when it comes to being in the bedroom and tied up with Grant.
Grant is the Dom of all Dom’s at his resort. He feels a deep attraction to Charli, enough to give their two weeks a shot and he pushes Charli to her limits and more. It might be hard at first to see someone like Charli get into this lifestyle, but she really just falls into it, her reporter mind gets her into trouble as she snuck into the Ranch at the start, but her initial reaction to finding herself in a student-type sub class was something she didn’t anticipate. I thought it worked for her in that she’s attracted to Grant and she reacts to everything he does in their scenes. Grant has a hard doing the sweet and tender sex, in fact he doesn’t kiss Charli for the longest time. So their sex scenes early on are very naughty, rough, and push the limits for Charli, but it’s still not an easy time for them. Charli needs kisses and she needs those tender moments and Grant, living in the past and thinking of his dead wife way too much, can’t let go. I really like how strong Charli was and while she gave in to Grant during some situations, she doesn’t do it all the time and she’s a great challenge for him as she forces him to start to live in the present and not in the past.
“The number of times I’ve actually been able to enjoy sex with anyone? Maybe four.”
Grant’s brow wrinkled. “Meaning you only liked it four times? Or you only came four times?”
“Both. My mind doesn’t stop racing. I get distracted at the littlest thing. The room’s too cold. His cologne is too strong. Why is he making that face? Does he seriously think that is going to work? Am I doing this right? Does he realize that having Sportscenter on in the background is only going to derail me?”
Grant’s dimple appeared.
I found Charli easy to relate to. She loves sports, she’s a tomboy and she just seems like a normal, everyday kind of woman. I loved that. We get to see her in her comfort zone, fighting for her story and dealing with people who don’t want her story to come to light. But we also see her start to change, just a little, thanks to Grant and I found her to be very charming and easy to like.
Fall Into You is a sexy story that more than satisfied my curiosity about Grant that has been building throughout the series. Charli isn’t the type of woman I expected Grant to have for a heroine, but she ended up being perfect for him. I really enjoyed their relationship, seeing Charli get an up close and personal experience with Grant’s lifestyle and how she responded to it. This was a strong addition to Roni Loren’s Loving on the Edge series and fans will love getting to know Grant better and see him fall for Charli, a woman who ends up being his perfect match.
