Circe by Madeline Miller

4.0

A great retelling of the Goddess Circe. It is a story of strength and humanity. We get Circe's pov throughout the book. We get to see the way she's mocked and belittled by her family, who deem her worthless and ugly. Then we see how she continued to be mistreated by mortals even as she's exiled for the rest of her days. Through all of Circe's hurt, harm, and torment, she still chooses to be just and, in the end, chooses the mortal life for herself.

This book is great for those who enjoy Greek mythology and retellings of Gods, Goddesses, and Titans. This isn't so much a romance novel either, even though we see some fleeting romance scenes throughout the book. Minimal action occurs, so the read feels a bit slow in pace. Something that did not affect my enjoyment of the book at all, but it might affect another reader, so it is worth mentioning.
