Blood and Guts: A History of Surgery
by Richard Hollingham
dark
funny
informative
inspiring
slow-paced
I am not a surgery person. The only knowledge I have about surgery prior to this book comes from grey's anatomy. I would not consider myself particularly interested in surgery generally speaking.
This book was entertaining and informative. It was easy to understand. A very accessible read. I found my jaw dropping open at some of the things surgeons did and how recently they've done them. The thing I found myself frequently thinking: "the things they used to just let you do"
Honestly, I'm so glad I read this book, and I can't wait to read even more on the subjects explored within with direction from the further reading section.
If you're looking for an entertaining, informative, but accessible book on A History of Surgeries, this is THE book.
