The Terraformers by Annalee Newitz
4.0

Really enjoyed this book. I was impressed by the fresh and inventive ideas "The Terraformers" presented, such as "the great bargain" which I found quite profound as well as ethically complex.

I also loved the interesting and perhaps unusual perspectives, such as future environmental workers, planners and even sentient mass transit systems.

And as with many good sci-fi stories, "The Terraformers" does more than entertain; it compels us to reflect on our present circumstances. The book not only envisions a compelling future scenario but also provides a critical perspective on today's world. It highlights how the corporations in the story, with their approach to ethics, closely resemble those of our time - and presents a rather terrifying situation where a whole planet can be privatised.
