That was a hard read. Not because the story wasn’t gripping, it was but it was much more emotional and darker than I had anticipated. The book is told in two ways, one from Sadie’s perspective as she tries to find the person she suspected killed her sister, and the other from our journalists perspective who produced a podcast and retraced Sadies steps after she goes missing. It hits on some hard topics and is very realistic in its depiction of people who have suffered trauma. The ending was also very realistic, which I appreciated and made me think about ‘the girls’ and the people behind true crime podcasts.
