I feel like this took me a long time to read, but it really didn't. I don't admit this often, but there were a few parts that I found myself skim reading. It was a bit bogged down with details for world building, which could be boring.
It was interesting in the fact that it felt like a historical fiction set in medieval times, but really it was supposed to be dystopian. I don't really know how to classify it, because it also has high fantasy. It's definitely different.
Naturally, I will be reading the 2nd book because I need to know what is going to happen.
Teacher Note: Technically it's YA based on the main character being a teen, but beware of some major content.
