Rise of a Queen by Rina Kent

5.0

I liked the first book in the series but I definitely loved this one. The relationship between Aurora & Jonathan was portrayed beautifully. Their progress and character development was the highlight. Both of them though that they were incapable of feeling emotions but they eventually couldn't resist displaying their true selves in front of each other.
“You don’t have to protect me. Just because I’m a woman doesn’t mean I can’t protect myself.” “I’m not protecting you because you’re a woman. I’m protecting you because you’re my woman.”
Jonathan was seemingly human and not just a work machine that he was portrayed to be in the Royal Elite Series. Aurora barged into his life and crumbled his walls. The way he started to care about Aurora and constantly worried about her was so entertaining.
“You’re my world.” She plants a kiss on my mouth. “How can you be left out of it?”
“You’re awful.” “You still love me.” “I do.” “Say it.” “I love you, Jonathan.” I sigh. “I love you so much.”
Aurora was such a strong match for Jonathan. She was strong, stubborn, defiant and was capable of handling herself just fine. She gave Jonathan a hard fight and called him out on his face. She was not afraid of him and they were literally equals.
"I don’t like anyone in Aurora’s vicinity. Full stop." " I waited so long for this woman, and now that I’ve found her, there’s no letting her go. Not now. Not ever."
The way Aurora was . constantly reminded that she looked like Alicia didn't dull her spirit. She said she stopped living her life after the incident with her father but she didn't even realise that when Jonathan came along, she started enjoying the little things that she did when she was a child.
From the beginning, Jonathan was never a fling. He was a beautiful disaster waiting to happen and I just fell into it.
The glimpses into Aiden-Elsa's & Levi-Astrid's lives were cute and funny. I'm definitely eager to read the upcoming Royal Elite Epilogue to see where all these characters are going to head in the future. Loved the duet!
