La Llorona: Ghost Stories of the Southwest by Christoper L. Rodarte

5.0

Just spooky enough!

This collection of short stories by Rodart was juuuuust the right fix for me during spooky season.

He focuses on the tale of La Llorona and explores the many possibilities of encountering her. Rodart begins his collection by retelling the haunting myth- invoking a sense of empathy for our haunting ghoul.

Each story is based on the tales, myths, and legends shared from one generation to the next. Every story in his collection is paired with an author’ s note explaining the real life stories that spurred his imagination.

While the tales are spooky, they are a perfect fit for a tween reader (which means I could handle it)!
