The Watsons by Jane Austen

3.0

A solid start. It's a shame we only get a snippet of what we think Jane would have done with it.

Overall, I felt like Emma and her setting were more fleshed out and polished than Sanditon. I know neither of those were completed, so comparison is really futile.

I liked that Emma was the one who saw past Tom's charm when everyone is clearly drooling for him. She also stands up for her aunts decision, and seems alright knowing she lost out on inheritance. In fact, she judges her aunt more on her personality than an potential for monetary gain.

I would have loved to see Emma get courted, and Tom jilt a few more ladies.
