The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

3.0

3.5 stars

I'm like. kind of disappointed. Schwab is one of my favourite authors and when the original premise of this book was announced I was excited and intrigued. Especially as Schwab has previously said that this book took her a long time to write.

This book's really follows the toxic relationship between Addie and Luc and I was expecting a lot more conflict and action considering Schwab's previous novels. Nothing really happens at all in this book until the last like. 100 pages of the book. Everything up until then is flashing back and forth between the present and the past and recounting Addie's relationship with Luc and living through the past.

I did really like the ending though and the way that the last like 20 pages turned out. Maybe my favourite part of the book.

I think maybe my hopes were too high for this book perhaps. It's written well and has some really great bits in it, it just didn't match up with what I had expected of both Schwab and this book.
