If You Still Recognise Me by Cynthia So

4.0

4.5 THIS WAS SO GOOD!! i loved loved loved the representation, the sense of belonging, of being yourself, of finding who you are and what you’re comfortable with. i see myself in elsie, she’s a wonderful bi character that i will cherish for a long time. i also really enjoyed learning more about cantonese culture, it was lovely to see elsie navigate in what is like to be queer in a close minded family, i loved how her parents loved her and i loved that at the end of the book even if she still didn’t come out to them, it felt like it would be okay. seeing food being a way of expressing love was lovely as well
