Wreck the Halls by Tessa Bailey

3.0

I expected better. The beginning had me kicking my feet because I love a good obsessed trope (my eagerness for that chunk of the book is where the 3 stars come from) but as the book continued, I felt like Melody was a lot more Mary Sue-like than I’m used to seeing with a Tessa Bailey book, which was disappointing. I personally couldn’t understand how a few “quips” made her unanimously loved by the Internet and EVERYONE around her. It felt very unrealistic for her to have had such a positive experience with the Internet, which made me dislike her a bit more. Beat’s entire personality was his obsession with Melody and his inability to trust, which again, was a shift from the beginning that portrayed him having more depth. His friends showed up for one single scene.

This was disappointing, since I usually point to Tessa Bailey as my favorite, most consistent, romcom author.

Oh! And there is literally no Christmas relation at all. Their deadline for the reunion is Christmas Eve and they have a snowball fight. That’s literally everything Christmas or even winter relevant.
