I did not expect to like this story as much as I did....especially for as viscerally as I hated Phoenix at times.  It has been a long time since I've read a main male character that I despised so much and still wanted him to have the sweetest redemption.  Maybe I just projected some of my insecurities onto Lennon, and wanted her to just have her comeuppance.

Lennon is also a plus-size female main character, which I love!  There are body image issues, food issues, and long-standing insecurities and feelings about food and her body.

What I liked most about this book was how bittersweet their healing was.  It felt very real and raw and emotional.  Some books take enemies-to-lovers from a small spat to the moon-stars-and-everything-between.  This one picks you up, pushes you down, extends a hand to you, and drags you across the pavement a little bit.

It took me a while to come around to this book.  I just didn't think it was for me, but I was wrong.  See?  I can admit when I'm wrong.  If you're an emotional reader like me, consider yourself warned.  This one is going to hurt a little.

Happy Reading!
